| 摘 要： | 美术题材是美术作品的内容要素之一。由于创作主体在文化传统、艺术观念、审美情趣等方面存在着差异,而艺术作品的接受者也有着不同的审美趣味、审美需要,因此,中西古代美术发展的轨迹不尽一致,特别是在题材的选择、作品的意蕴等方面都存在着较大的差别。中国古代艺术家天人合一的文化观念、注重自然寻求超越的审美追求是中国古代山水画特别发达的根本原因。而在西方,由于古希腊美术传统的影响和文艺复兴思潮的推动,以人物（包括人体）、社会生活为题材的美术创作取得了很高的成就。当代的艺术家应从古代艺术的宝库中汲取有益的经验,不仅注重题材选择,更注重作品意蕴的开掘,这样,才能使自己的作品具有深刻的思想和高贵的伦理价值。
