Protection and Exploration of City Historical and Cultural Resources in Times of Rapid Urbanization

The fact that China is in a period of rapid urbanization has given rise to some obvious negative effects on the historical and cultural resources of cities. To protect and make use of these resources, we must completely understand the spirit and principles of related international declarations and documents, and draw on the experience of other countries. For China, there are four main approaches to the protection and exploration: 1. active and dynamic protection with reasonable exploitation and vitality sustaining; 2. comprehensive planning and classified protection; 3. new urban district development as well as old downtown area protection; 4. establishing professional affiliates and strengthening related legislations.
