Professional Development of Human Resource Managers

Professionalization is the key symbol for maturity of one industry's development. With the Change of market environment, Chinese human resource managers are facing challenges of professionalization. Establishing human resource manager market is the key to the professionalization of human resource managers. The professional skills of human resource managers can be certified, priced, transacted and developed through human resource manager market. The professionalization of human resource manager is represented by the following aspects: strict professional certification mechanism, normative education programs in human resource management, professional association and specialized training, professional allocation of human resource managers, good compensation for human resource manager profession, etc. To certify human resource manager profession is an important process of human resource manager's professional development. This paper first describes the development of human resource management professionalization and discusses the importance of the human resource management profession. Then it introduces the certification system and institutions of human resource management profession in the United States and the Great Britain. Finally, it puts forward the author's own perspectives on the basic criteria for human resource manager's professional development in education, knowledge, skills and profession morality.
