Caddy is the heroine of William Faulkner's masterpiece The Sound and The Fury. Though a warm-hearted and loving person, she is incompatible with the society and the family which are deeply influenced by Puritanism. She pursues freedom and happiness in life. But for lack of correct outlook of value to struggle with the traditional concept of woman morals, she is driven to be a prostitute at last. Through the tragic life story of Caddy, the author launched a forceful attack against the puritanical concept of woman morals.
