太原市公示语英译的问题与对策

随着改革开放的不断深入，太原，也在为建设成国际化的大都市不断地努力。公示语，作为一个城市的名片，同城市的形象、面貌及其国际化建设密不可分。公示语英译的规范化是一个国家或城市文明程度的体现，也是一个城市国际化程度的体现。城市英语公示语的翻译水平同其对外形象紧密相关。经实地考察发现太原市很多英语公示语的使用情况都不尽人意。此种情况产生的原因大致可以归于文化传播与交流滞后和公示语英译标准不统一及政府与媒体关注度不高，因此为了促进太原创建国际化大都市的进一步发展，增删部分英译公示语及尽快确立规范化、标准化的公示语英译标准是当前需要解决的问题。

A Study of C-E Translation of Public Signs in Taiyuan City

Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi Province, is striving to develop its construction into an interna- tional metropolis under the reformation and opening up. As a calling card of the city, the public sign is closely and inseparately related to the city image and the international construction. The translation nor- malization of public signs is a reflection of the degree of civilization in one city or country. The survey shows that many bilingual public signs are not working well in the city. Such results could attribute to the lag of cultural transmission and communication, the ununified translation standard and the low attention from the government and media. So adding or deleting parts of public signs and establishing the normali- zations as soon as possible could make the city meet the needs of reformation and internationalization.
