Debates on Narrow Content in the Analytic Philosophy

This paper first introduces the historical background concerning the debates on narrow content in the analytic philosophy; it then discusses two recent defenses of narrow content that are most influential. These two defenses represent, respectively, the radical internalism and the moderate internalism concerning mental content and semantic content. The paper attempts to analyze the merits and defects of these two theories so that we can have a clear understanding of the philosophical challenges posed by the problem of narrow content.
