Reflections on English Teaching Reform in Technical College Based on ESP Theory

ESP（English for specific purposes） refers to a kind of language teaching and learning method which is based on the needs of learners.The paper analyzes the English teaching status in Technical College and argues that it is necessary to introduce the ESP theory to carry out the English teaching reform in technical colleges.The school authorities and teaching management departments should attach importance to ESP teachers＇ construction and improvement.They should develop a series of ESP textbooks to meet the requirement of different majors and proceed with the ＂process-oriented＂ task teaching method.
