Russia's Far Eastern Area: Its Investment Environment, Prospect and Existing Questions

Introducing more foreign capital is the prerequisite for extricating from a predicament and speeding up the economic development of Russia's Far Eatern area which has superior geographical position, rich natural resources and convenient transportation for investment. A series of policies have been adopted by Russian government and the local government to introduce foreign capital. But restricted by market scope and some unfavorable investment policies, foreign businessmen have met such difficulties as great political risks, little guarantee of investment law and heavy burden of taxes. If the local government makes some adjustment and strengthens the reform, Russia will attract more foreign investment in its Far Eastern area.
