Abstract: | A clarification is given of the main result (1.1) in Communications in Statistics: Theory and Methods 34:753–766. The term {1 + 6a(r ? a)}1/3 is to be understood as sgn(1 + 6a(r ? a)) | 1 + 6a(r ? a)|1/3. The result is expressed in a more user-friendly form. An issue is raised regarding the common usage of the expression x 1/n when n is even. |
