| Abstract: | Though Xiao Xiao and Light in August cannot match each other in terms of the style and length,the heroines of the two novels still share a lot in common in their experience and fate.This paper,building on Shen Congwen and Faulkner's provincialism,tries to explore how Xiaoxiao and Lena maintain tranquility in their mind and integrity of their personality,by tracing their similar life story but different dispositions and religious and moral beliefs owing to their respective nationalities. |
