赛义德的人文主义——读《人文主义与民主批评》

Edward Said's Humanism:Comments on Humanism and Democratic Criticism

Humanism is central to the works of the world-renowned cultural theorist and critic Edward Said.He has been at the forefront of rethinking and redefining humanism among contemporary theorists.His reflections on humanism and the praxis of criticism are mainly embodied in Humanism and Democratic Criticism（2004）.In this book,he connects critical theory with the tradition of humanism.Based on critique of Eurocentric,elitist and essentialist ideas of traditional humanism,he appeals for the secular,democratic and open humanism and advocates combination of humanism and the praxis of criticism,thus extending the Western Humanism in a sense and providing the basis for the construction of the planetary humanism.
