霍耐特反思与重构哈贝马斯交往理论的目的,是为了论证批判理论的“承认理论转向”的必要性。一方面他肯定哈贝马斯交往理论对克服早期批判理论困境的重要作用,另一方面他宣称只有“蔑视的社会动力学”才代表批判理论的未来;并赋予劳动范畴在批判理论发展纲领中以重要意义;从而试图走出交往范式的狭义理解,强调交往范式不能理解为语言理论,而只能理解为承认理论。

From Linguistic Theory to Theory of Recognition:Honneth's Reflections upon and Reconstruction of Habermas' Communication Theory

Honneth reflected upon and reconstructed Habermas' communication theory in order to argue for the necessity of "turning of theory of recognition" of critical theory. On the one hand, he confirmed the importance of Habermas' communicative theory to overcome the difficulty of critical theory. On the other hand, he declared that only "the scornful social dynamics" represents the future of critical theory; and he gave labor the important meaning in the development program of the critical theory, and attempted to avoid the limitation of the narrow understanding of communicative patterns. He emphasized that communicative patterns could not be understood as linguistic theory, but theory of recognition.
