Affiliation: | Is a Fellow in Law and Sociology at Harvard Law School, holding a Guggenheim Fellowship for 1975–76. She is on leave from Brandeis University, where she is an Associate Professor of Sociology. She has also taught at the University of Michigan, where she did her doctoral work in social organization and received her Ph.D. in 1967. Her concern with social change and alternative life-styles led to two earlier books, Commitment and Community;(Harvard University Press, 1972) and Communes: Creating and Managing the Collective Life (Harper &Row, 1973) and a reputation as one of the leading social science researchers in this field. |
