回到思想史:先秦名学研究的新路向

战国秦汉时期对“名”的讨论极为活跃。当时的“名”可以分为两类,即伦理学政治学意义上的“名”与语言学逻辑学意义上的“名”。前者对中国古代思想史影响之大远远超过后者,但由于受二十世纪初传入中国的西方逻辑学的影响,以往的先秦名学研究只重视后者,未对前者展开过系统研究,这使名学研究偏离了思想史的实态。因此应转换方向,回归于思想史的正途,对先秦名学重新作出客观全面的梳理。

New Approaches to the Study of "Ming" during the Pre-Qin Period

There has been hot discussions of the "ming(name)" during the period from the Warring States to the Han dynasty.The "ming" at that time can be categorized into two kinds: "ming" in the sense of ethics and politics,as well as "ming" in the sense of linguistics and logic.The former has exerted much more far-reaching influence in the intellectual history of ancient China than the latter.However,because of the influence of Western logic which was introduced into China in the early 20th century,the previous studies of "ming" only valued the latter,to the neglect of the former,and this has resulted in studies of "ming" deviating from the actual conditions of the intellectual history.So it is necessary to systematically and objectively study "ming" from the perspective of intellectual history.
