The Spiritual Chant That Traverses Dusk--On the Image Of Dusk in Classical Chinese Poetry

The presentation of the image of dusk is the most impressive in all natural images in classical Chinese poetry.Though a phase of the day,dusk,which connotates life,possesses metaphorical extension of society and life in the eyes of poets.This paper holds that the presentation of the image of dusk stems from the poets' longing for perfection and love,originating from their sense of being at a loss for the meaning of life,and having much to do with their failures in officialdom.How this image is frequently depicted sheds light for us to be fully conscious of the thread along which natural phenomena come to obtain their metaphorical meaning in ancient Chinese poetry.
