The Study of Chinese History in Post- Modern Perspective

In the field of history , post - modernism trends to expose the hidden history by modernity through criticizing or reflecting on modern western historiography and its ideas of history , meanwhile attempts to construct a consistent post - modern system about history and methodology. Since the mid - 1990's , there have been some typical studies in Chinese history with apparently post - modern perspective in American history ac-ademia , which make it possible for us to conduct a sort of bi - directional analysis between their practice and theories. In this way , we seem to observe how they apply post -modern perspective to put forward a series of new problems and to break through the old paradigm ; furthermore , these reduce us to thinking over what is the extent or limit of post - modernism in the study of Chinese history.
