Charity and Business: on the Rise of Charity Organizations in Modern Shanghai

Lots of charity organizations appeared at the turn of the 20~(th)century.Though the universal poverty and serious social problems were among reasons of their emergence,the pursuits of philanthropists were actually of more importance.By analyzing professions of philanthropists,assets of charity organizations and their implementation,the paper concludes that there existed pursuit of interests behind the support of charity in those organizations.lt is truly the impetus of the emergence of many charity organizations.
