| Abstract: | English has very rich synonymic idioms. The similarities between a group of synonymic idioms are relative, and their differences are often absolute. This paper mainly discusses the differences from affective meaning, stylistic meaning and commendatory or derogatory senses, etc. Knowing these differences well contributes to understanding idioms correctly and making an appropriate use of them. |
