关于日本割占台湾的几个问题

日本割占中国台湾及澎湖列岛是近代远东国际关系中影响巨大的事件,牵涉面很广。中日两国是此事件直接当事者,西方列强也插手其中,局面错综复杂。日本割占台湾是其长期既定的方针,而非临时决定。西方列强出于自身利益考虑,对日本割台的举动持旁观的态度,或坐观其成,或不情愿而最终放弃介入,没有一个是真正同情和支持中国的。中国朝野在割台问题上曾寄希望于外援交涉,但依然不能改变台湾及澎湖列岛被割占之命运。

The Japanese occupation of Taiwan and Penghu Islands is a greatly influential event in modern Far-East international relations,and it covers many aspects.The two countries,China and Japan,are di- rect subjects of this event,and the western powers are involved in,that makes the situation extremely complicated.The Japanese occupation of Japan is rather its long-time policy than a temporal decision.The western powers,out from their own interests,adopt an attitude of spectators on the Japanese occupation of Taiwan,either willing to see the outcome,or unwillingly quit from the involvement at last,and none of them has the sympathy and support China.Both the royal court and the people have expected foreign sup- ports' diplomacy on the event,but it still cannot change the destiny of Taiwan and Penghu Islands being occupied.
