摘    要:本文认为,对教育救国持完全否定态度是片面的;文章概述了我国近代教育救国主张的历史发展并加以辩析;指出教育是一种培养人的长效性事业,虽然在某些特定时期救不了国,但它通过培养人才而"兴国"、"强国"的作用却是不能低估的。因此,近代教育救国论基本上是与历史潮流发展相合的。

Abstract:This paper holds that it would be a one-sided view to take a negative attitude towards the save-the-country-by-promoting-education theory in modern Chinese history. By making a general account and then a clarifying analysis of the historical development of the educational propositions ever witnessed in modern Chinese history, the paper argues that education is a slowly acting undertaking for training qualified people and, although education failed to save the country at a specific time period in history, its role in "prospering" or "strengthening"the country thanks to the services done by the trained people is not to be underestimated. It is therefore concluded that the save-the-country-by-promoting-education theory in modern Chinese history goes basically with the tide of historical development.
