Zhuangzi, a great Chinese philosopher of Taoism during the period of Warring States and Kafka, a gifted Austrian novelist in the late 19th century an d the early 20th century, have exposed and criticized the "civilization illness ". How did they define the "civilization illness" and then expose and critici ze it? Are there any similarities and differences between them though they lived in the totally different places and ages? The author has been probing into this problem from a comparative angle and hopes to offer some inspiration to others through this paper.
