Abstract: | Mr. Newton analyses the personnel strategy of Shell U.K. and describes how it is related to the corporate planning system. He then explains the measures which are taken to plan, control, and research the use of personnel. He deals in detail with the development of a computer based information system, attempts to determine the cost effectiveness of manpower, and the use of the Behavioural Sciences in a positive effort to shape personnel relations in the company. Finally, he mentions a number of changes which are likely to influence personnel strategy in the future. |
