This essay examines the global corporate governance movement.A series of corporate failures led to the launch of the world's first corporate governance committee in UK,where the modern corporate governance movement started.Three reports by UK s corporate governance committees are discussed in detail.The Asian financial turmoil in 1997 awakes the Asian countries to the importance of the corporate governance and the corporate governance movement is emerging around the globe.Finally,this paper proposes some policy recommendations for the improvement of corporate governance in China.
