Epistemic Community and Global Environmental Governance

Global environmental governance is a fairly new area in international relations and challenges the practice and theory of traditional international relations. Epistemic community theory developed by Peter M. Haas offers a new perspective in understanding international environmental cooperation. Epistemic community is a group of transnational scientists with shared understanding of the issue. They help policy makers in issue definition, interest clarification and policy selection, which can effectively promote international environmental cooperation.
