知识分子与五四运动

五四运动的主将和中坚是当时中国先进的知识分子.从知识分子的人格主体和文化心理层面分析,五四运动的发生与他们求真求新传播文化的职业本位意识、倡导个性追求自由的内心向往、济世救民安邦兴国的社会责任感以及其群体队伍的扩大与成熟和"抵强御侮"、"国存自强"的民族意识等紧密相关.此外,政界暂时的相对宽容和学界的思想真空也为五四运动的引发创造了社会条件.尤为可贵的是,由五四运动孕育和提炼出的五四精神(如御侮爱国、怀疑批判、求真创新、自由民主和忘我献身等)不仅有其历史价值,而且有其现实意义.

Intellectuals of China and the May 4th Movement

Those who played an important role in the May 4th Movement were the advanced intellectuals of China in those days. Analyzed in terms of their personality subject and cultural psychology, the movement was intimately related to their professional sense of pursuing truth and novelty and disseminating culture, their inner yearning that advocated personality and pursued freedom, their social responsibility of saving the nation and the people and stabilizing and developing the country, the expansion and maturity of their team, and their national sense of resisting foreign invasion and humiliation and promoting state existence and development. Furthermore, the ephemeral relative tolerance on the part of the authorities and the ideological void of the academic circles created the social conditions for the occurrence of the movement. Especially important, the spirits borne and refined in the movement (such as resisting foreign imposition and loving the motherland, suspicion and criticism, pursuing truth and novelty, freedom and democracy, and dedication and sacrifice) are marked not only by their historical value but also by their realistic significance.
