马克思主义是从历史唯物主义的立场、观点与方法来建构马克思主义政治理论的。从经济因素考察政治到作为经济与政治之间的基本环节的阶级成为政治的基本范畴，是马克思主义的基本的政治逻辑。正是在历史唯物主义的指导下，马克思主义者通过对人类社会政治现象的研究而形成的马克思主义政治理论具有科学性。在不断的发展过程中，马克思主义政治理论不断遭到社会主义流派内部、自由主义等政治思潮的批判。在新的历史条件下，构建社会主义民主理论是当代马克思主义政治学说创新的核心问题。

Relationship between politics and economy: A perspective for interpreting Marxist political theory

Marxist political theory is constructed on the basis of historical materialism. Behind Marxist politics, there are two propositions： politics should be investigated by analyzing economic factors, and class is the link between economy and politics. It is under the guidance of historical materialism that Marxist political theory formed in the process of studying political phenomena in the history of man- kind has acquired a scientific basis. In the course of continuous development, Marxist political theory has been constantly criticized by socialist theorists and liberalists, and in this new historical period, to build a socialist democratic theory is the major issue in the innovation of contemporary Marxist political theory.
