文化沙龙与人文讲堂——书院功能的当代定位

书院是藏书、教学与研究相结合的教育机构。古代书院具有藏书、教书、读书、写书和编书的功能。当代社会由于科学技术的挤压，义务教育的普及，出版业的市场化运作，国家各级图书馆的开放服务和高等学校与社科院的学术研究，使书院失去了传统功能，必须承扬和创建新的社会功能。作为一种非物质文化遗产，书院应当成为人文传统的传承者，人文学者探讨自由思想的文化沙龙和宣讲人文精神的大讲堂。
