| Abstract: | In Tang Gaozons period, Empress Wu Zetian transplanted peonies from Fenzhou to Changan. And they began to be accepted as a kind of ornamental flower. The Buddhist monks made a great contribution to the cultivation techniques of peonies. The price of peonies remained high in that period. It became a fashion in the Tang Dynasty to enjoy peonies, which became closely related to the social life and even entered the fields of music and art. |
