Based on the perspective of cognition,this paper probes into the double connotations of the main subject of To Helen,where tangible objects and invisible spirit construct structural metaphors as well as ontological metaphors.They use dimly discernible sacredness of gods and primitive simplicity of objects as source domains and projected resplendency and magnificence of Helen's beauty.They also demonstrate the esthetical feelings:the beauty of spirit,art and ideal pursued by Allan Poe all his life.
