语际翻译的居中性简论

作为两种语言/文化的融合和共生之物,语际翻译亦此亦彼又非此非彼。所以,在传统非此即彼的二元论命题下,它找不到自己的位置。从其本体论地位来看,把它笼统地归于某一语言/文化的传统思路也是值得商榷的。借用中介理论和中庸辩证法可说明:语际翻译既不属于始发语言/文化,也不属于目的语言/文化,它是一种独立于此两种语言/文化之外、又与此两种语言/文化有着必然联系的一种独立的语言/文化。而中国哲学在译论中的缺席,使语际翻译的本体论地位无法得到应有的肯定。

On the Intermediacy of Interlingual Translation

As an amalgamation and intergrowth of two languages/cultures,interlingual translation,on the one hand,belongs simultaneously to these two languages/cultures,and on the other,it does not belong to either of the two.In fact,under the traditional proposition of either/or dualism,interlingual translation is always trapped in a dilemma,which,from the ontological perspective,should deserve our reconsideration.This paper,based on the Intermediacy Theory and the Doctrine of the Mean,intends to prove that interlingual translation belongs to neither the source nor the target language/culture.It is a language/culture that is independent of,and,at the same time,indispensably linked to these two languages/cultures.The paper also argues that the absence of Chinese philosophy in translation theory brings into the void a possible justification of the ontological status of the translation.
