丘逢甲创办岭东同文学堂的经过及其影响

Lingdongtongwen School Initiated by Qiu Fengjia: its Establishment and Influence

Lingdongtongwen School was a well-known private school run in Shantou by the then distinguished educator,poet,and patriot Qiu Fengjia. Although it had some limitations in pushing new learning,it nevertheless assumed thoroughly new appearance in terms of its purpose,the teaching faculty,its requirements of the students,its teaching contents and its teaching methodology. The establishment of this school not only helped abolish the imperial examination system,but also took the lead in epochal currents. It played important roles in changing living style,inspiring people with intelligence,and spreading advanced western culture.It launched the Chao research,and cultivated a great number of famous talents.
