翻译现代性:剔除、强化与妥协——对革新时期《小说月报》英、法文学译介的跨文化解读

作为中国“现代文学”的重要来源,“翻译文学”在中国文学“现代性”的进程中扮演了举足轻重的角色。五四时期,《小说月报》大力译介英国、法国文学,摸索了剔除、强化和妥协等三种西方文学进入中国的途径,形成了这一时期较为典型的“翻译现代性”理念与实践。然而,对于中国这样的不发达国家来说,经“翻译”而来的文学“现代性”追求是复杂而多向度的,其意义并不仅仅局限在文学领域,不只是一种打通了域外文学／翻译文学／本土文学之间界限的中国“现代文学”构造过程;而更多是一种建立在不同的文化和语境的差异与冲突间的跨文化抉择,也是一份消弭了文学性／社会性彼此不同指向而呈现出自省感、责任感与使命感交混的矛盾而又宿命的现代知识分子的人生实践。

Interpreting Modernity: Reject, Strengthen and Compromise --Trans-culture Study on Novel Monthly's Interpretation of British and French Literature in the Period of Renovation

As the resource of Chinese modern literature, "literature interpretation" have make important influence on it. In the period of May 4th Movement, Novel Monthly's interpreted and introduced British and French literature, that produced three modes of "literature interpretation", such as reject, strengthen and compromise. The "literature interpretation" in Novel Monthly not only build Chinese modern literature, but also embody the complicated role of Chinese modern intellectual. The "modernity" practice of " literature interpretation" is a conflicting and fatal choice , especially to the Third world country as China.
