牟宗三的风骨

牟宗三是现代新儒家的杰出代表,也是“世界水准”的哲学家。他在苦苦地追求“哲学地建立中国哲学”的学思历程中,也表现出鲜明的人格特征。与很多哲学家相同的是,牟宗三对于做学问和做人都有明确的意识。他认为做人与做学问一样均不是一件易事,因此需要认真的态度。牟宗三的一生规行矩步,儒雅谦逊,儒者风范。但与此同时,他又常常表现出忧怨与孤愤,具有明显的狂者性格。这又是与很多哲学家不同的一面。之所以如此,在于他一生以“真人”人格为“型范”,以真诚、不虚伪为做人标准。这种以“真人”为底子、以儒者风范和狂者性格相结合的人格特征构成了牟宗三的人格风骨。

MOU Tsung-San's Strength of Character

As a representation of the Modern Neo-Confucian and a world-class philosopher as well,Mou Tsung-San had a very clear personal characteristic in the process of "rebuilding Chinese Philosophy philosophically".Mou valued and was clearly aware of both developing moral character and being a scholar.Mou was in a Con-fucian manner: cultured,humble and humorous.On the other hand,he showed a "crazy personality": chesty,isolated,acerbic.In fact,"being a true person" is Mou's basic and central personality ideal.That is,with sincerity,not being false is Mou's standard of personality.In a word,Confucian manner,"crazy personality" and "being a true person" compose Mou's personal characteristics.
