Prospects for Western Literary Theory in the New Century: Cultural Studies and Eco-criticism

This essay has a brief review of the 20th century western literary theory. It discusses the origin, object of study, features of cultural studies and definition, birth, development stage and significance of eco criticism. It proposes that cultural studies and eco criticism might keep strong development tendency and become the noticeable subjects in literary theory circles in the new century. In the end, it points out some problems that should be drawn attention during cultural studies and eco criticism.
