| 摘 要： | 以时间为序,描述了英语词汇发展的进程。英语经过了古英语、中古英语和现代英语三个大的阶段。在此发展中虽然借用了大量的外国词汇,丰富了英语本身,但英语还是在本民族的许多文学家的努力下,发展成规范的、富有表达力的语言。
