缺失、发现与回归——《紫颜色》中黑人女性的身体认知与文化认同

艾丽斯·沃克的《紫颜色》中的黑人女性在权力规训与暴力的压迫下,身体处于缺失的状态。身体的不在场使得她们无法认识世界而不得不接受白人强加的知识。然而,面对镜子和开放的大自然以及在唱歌、跳舞中,黑人女性重新发现了缺失的身体,并通过对身体的认知产生了自我意识。黑人女性身心合一的认知方式颠覆了白人身心二元论的桎梏,建立了与非洲黑人的联系,获得了自我认同、集体力量与民族精神。

Absence,Finding and Regression——Black Woman's Body Cognition and Cultural Recognition in The Color Purple

The Color Purple by Alice Walker shows that the absences of black women＇ s bodies under discipline and oppression by the white and black males made them have no way to understand the world but have to accept the knowledge imposed by the White. However, the absent body can be rediscovered with the aid of mirror, Mother Nature and by singing and dancing. Through body, the Blacks can build up their own understanding and cognition of the world. Therefore, the black woman＇ s cognitive style of giving priority to body subverts the White＇ s mind/ body dualistic style. Meanwhile their cognitive style builds up a contact with the black Africans and helps them to have the power of the collective and a sense of ethnic pride. Body cognition saves the Black＇ s soul and arouses their cultural awareness. Eventually, they are going on the track of recognizing, appreciating and praising their ethnic culture and spirit.
