Forthcoming effects of the WTO entrance on cooperation in thehigh-tech industry of the mainland and Taiwan

The authors of this paper make a systematic analysis of the forthcoming effects on the cooperation in the high tech industry of the mainland and Taiwan after China joins the WTO. A summary is made of the characteristics of the status quo of this cooperation and emphasis is laid on the great mutual complementarity between the two sides in this field. It is pointed out that the WTO entrance will bring effects of different degrees to the two sides in the field concerned, and that it will present both opportunities for development and new challenges. Primary ideas of strategy are put forward based on cooperative principles, key areas and main accesses under the framework of the WTO to accelerate the high tech cooperation between the mainland and Taiwan.
