| Abstract: | Imagery is an extraodinary language that is mostly used by poets to express their experiences.Auditory imagery is one of the most frequent ones in poetry.This article mainly discusses how sound reinforces meaning from the perspective of auditory imagery in the following aspects: choosing proper onomatopoetic words to indicate meaning;grouping euphonious and cacophonous sounds to produce perfect effect;using meters to control the speed so as to reach harmony;emphasizing with the help of both sound and meter. |
