An Analysis of the Social and Cultural Cause Reflected in the Poetry by LI Yi

The poetry by Li Yi(Emperor of Nantang dynasty which only controlled a small part of ancient China at that time) reflected deep social and cultural roots.The geo-political factor of Nantang Dynasty and the change of social customs made his poetry decadent and magnificent,laying emphasis on describing enjoyment of singing-dancing and drinking-banquet,and pursuit of romantic love,which had obvious characteristics of the popular culture.The culture and the aesthetic fashion of the time made him pursue relaxed and flowery through his poetry,paying much attention to the expression of his delicate inner feelings and desires.The special history of weak Nantang and the experiences of the poet's in that situation made his poetry full of deep sorrow and great pains,expressing his own worries about his dynasty,his family and the declining economy of the dynasty,which have lifted the style of his poetry upon a higher thinking level.
