On the Structural Perspective of Social Network Analysis

In recent years social network analysis has been drawing great attention from sociology,political science and other disciplines.It is in some cases known as "structural analysis".What is the intrinsic relationship between the two? What is the fundamental attributes of social network analysis? Divergent understandings of social network analysis have been put forth.Some people merely see it as an analytical technique.Others uphold it as a new social structural perspective.Some take it as a metaphor while others regard it a substantial theory.This paper attempts to explore these different understandings,aiming at a better understanding and wider application.
