An Analysis on the Telicity in English Language and the Criteria of“Measuring out”

In linguistics,telicity is the property of a verb or verb phrase that presents an action or event as being completed in some sense.However,the completed situation of an event is not solely determined by the verb or predicate phrases.Based on the previous studies,this article argues that the completed situa-tion of an event has strong relationship with verbs,semantic combination of the predicates and the event structures.The author also puts forward that the completed situation of an event can be calculated by quantization status,which may be effective in the studies of telicity.
