| 摘 要： | 以赛珍珠的《群芳亭》为蓝本,结合文学和教育学的相关知识,从一个全新的角度探讨晚清传教士英语教学的必要性,论证了在儒家思想根深蒂固的中国,单纯的传教注定失败,而英语为媒介传授西方文明,才为国人接受,最终古老的东方文明与西方文明冲撞与交融,走向新生。

| Abstract: | Based on Pearl S.Buck＇s Pavilion of Women,as well as related literature and education theory,this paper takes a close look at the method of English teaching used by missionaries in the late Qing Dynasty.It proves that in China,where Confucianism has taken root,simple Christianity teaching is doomed to fail.Teaching occidental civilization by means of English is accepted by Chinese so that old oriental civilization begins a new life during the collision and fusion. |
