Reestablishment of Relations Between the Center and the Edge: An Analysis of Development of the Northwest When Kuomintang was in Power

Current situation crisis urged people to pay attention to Northwest in 1930s. When Kuomintang was in Power, the government launched northwest development project by way of interaction between the government and the people, and finally this evolved into reestablishment of the relations between "the center" and "the edge", with its ultimate objective of survival and rejuvenation of the nation. It is through civilized and the barbaric limits that confirmed the central status approval of "the central" and "the edge". In particular, the central government, representative and elucidator of civilization enjoyed great power in the reconstruction of the central authority in the surrounding region; however, the concrete characters' social identities in northwest were usually labeled as the Barbaric. This is also the return of traditional strategies employed in administration of in the process of modern China's transition to modern national country.
