On the Principles and Strategies of Cross-cultural Translation in Light of the Harmony Notion in a Unity of Opposites

The core of the harmony notion is the thought of ＂Harmony while allowing Discrepancies＂ which ＂Harmony＂ and ＂Discrepancies＂ are in a unity of opposites. With the thought as the guidepost, the cross-cultural translation should highly value the original text and also the culture embraced in it. For this purpose, the translator should follow the principles of ＂Faithfulness taking priority over creation＂ and ＂Content taking priority over form＂, and adopt the strategies of ＂Foreignizing translation taking priority over domesticating translation＂ and ＂Literal translation taking priority over liberal translation＂. Only in this way can we display translation＇s function of spreading culture more fully and effectively.
