杨景贤是蒙古族第一位戏剧家,也是元末明初最多产、最重要的剧作家之一。他的代表作杂剧《西游记》对小说《西游记》的形成有着重要影响。然而,过去学术界对他的生平若明若暗,甚至有不少误解。本文依据史料,考索了杨景贤的姓字、生卒年、交游以及他与朱棣的关系,并反驳了杨景贤是“文化特务”之说。
