山西商号在粤经营事迹考略

晋商是明清时期中国著名的商帮之一,其作为全国性的商业团体,在票号业、药材业、糖业、京广杂货业等诸方面皆与粤地关系甚密.在票号业中,广东曾长期作为谷帮票号领袖志成信的大本营;在药材业中,广东市场更是催生了天下第一药材批售大帮——广帮.山西商人在粤经商行为一方面活跃了广东地方经济,促进了粤地之繁荣;另一方面,也为自身提供了大量的资本和广阔的市场,促进了晋商商号本身的发展与兴盛.晋粤两地是中国近代经济史上的两大重要省份,对二者经济联系的研究必将为近代经济史研究和当代经济发展提供新的思路和借鉴.

A Brief Look at the Business of Shanxi Merchants in Guangdong Province

Shanxi merchants were one of the famous business groups in China during Ming and Qing dynas- ties. As a national business groups, the merchants did business concerning banking, medical herbs, sugar, daily goods from Beijing and Guangzhou, all of which were closely related to Guangdong. In banking, Guangdong was once a headquarter of Zhichengxin, the leader of the business. In herb business, the first big group, Guang Group, emerged in Guangdong. Shanxi merchants conducting business in Guangdong, on the one hand, helped boosting the local economy, making the place more prosperous, and on the other hand, provided themselves with a great deal of fund and a large market, which, in turn, helped themselves develop. Since Shanxi and Guangdong were two important provinces in the modem economic history, studying the relations between the two will offer a new perspective for the study of the modem economic history and contemporary economic development.
