本世纪上半叶日本及台湾总督府在潮汕的活动

本文根据日文史料，介绍了目前鲜有人论及的本世纪上半叶日本及台湾总督府在潮汕地区的活动情况，集中考察了日本及日系朝鲜人和台湾人在汕头成立的日本人协会及其日本人居留民会。也讨论了朝鲜人和台湾人在潮汕地区的活动及人口和职业状况，同时叙述了伪汕头市政府的主要人员及他们附逆成立的东亚联盟汕头支会的有关情况，这对于了解和认识潮汕地区近代化过程问题，有一定的帮助。

Infiltration and invasion of Japan along with the viceroy office for Japan-occupied Taiwan into Chaozhou-Shantou Area in modern times

Based chiefly on Japanese literature, this paper deals with some seldom discussed prob lems related to the infiltration and invasion of Japan along with the viceroy office for Japan-occupied Tai wan into Chaozhou-Shantou Area in modern times, the population and occupation structure of Japanese and the Taiwanese under their control in Chaozhou-Shantou Area, and ther activities therein, including their setting up of the Japanese Society and its successor the Japaness Settlers Society, as well as dealing with the chief officers of the puppet Shantou Municipal Government and the South Asian Alliance Shantou Branch in service of the puppet government. The paper places emphasis on the fact that our studies on modern Chanzhou -Shantou history in present-day mainland China are limited to historical data mostly quoted from Chinese literature, and a breakthrough in the reconstruction of modern Chanzhou-Shantou history would be brought about by resorthing to historical data in Japanese and especially the historical data concerning viceroy office for Japan-occupied Taiwan, as well as by resorting to files in English from for eign consulates thereabout.
