Analysis of Cao Qi-qiao in The Legend of Golden Lock

This paper believes that Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis theory exerts a great impact on Zhang Ai-ling's fictions; Cao Qi-qiao is an exact example in The Legend of Golden Lock. Her skeptical, aggressive characteristic, to a large extent, is due to her family and her surroundings. From the study of the relationship among Qi-qian, Chang-bai, and Chang-an, it is no difficulty finding that the author has a good mastery of traditional Chinese literature as well as the foreign ones. The successful creation of the heroine Qi-qiao twists the conventional idea of "Love goes before sex"; hence it must arrest more attention to feminine topics.
