Rectification of the Misunderstanding of the Complete Version of The Dream of Red Mansion

This paper holds that it is not a contradiction for Jia Baoyu to pass the provincial civil service examination under the old Chinese examination system and to oppose the official career. The revival of the Jia family is the desire and arrangement of Cao Xueqin after examining his thoughts. The relationship between Cao Xueqin, Jia Baoyu, the Stone and some other images is also analyzed to explore a real Cao Xueqin and a fictional Jia Baoyu. Two misleading regions of the study of The Dream of Red Mansion have been discussed too. All these discussions try to show that the version of 120 chapters is a complete one.
