| Abstract: | The various symbolic meanings of J. M. Coetzee's representative novel Disgrace can be explored from different perspectives. Basing its analysis on the intensified racial problem in the post-apartheid South Africa, the present paper exposes the existential plight faced by the people of modern times, and reveals the author's sympathy for the human misery and his humanitarian concern for mankind. |
